Also, know that there is no single best way to quit smoking.
1. Learn about the several perils of smoking. Countless smokers don’t quit because they don’t know the dangerous consequences of smoking. The worse thing is, majority of these smokers already know the perils of smoking, but they cling to the false belief that they’re not true - at least, until such time when they contract the particular ailment or disease themselves.
2. Always remember that you’re not immune from ailments and diseases. You’re just human. You’re no superman. Your system is susceptible to damage and injury, and smoking multiplies that number a dozen times. You’re not exempt from the hazards of smoking. You’re no different from everybody: you’re only human.
3. Remind yourself that you are better than how you you perceive yourself to be. You don’t have to give in to the slightest temptation to smoke. If another person asks you to jump in front of a speeding car, will you? You’re not that stupid, right? Hence, you’re not stupid enough to remove seven minutes of your life per stick of cigarette.
4. Never view a stick of cigarette as a prize. It never is.
5. Know that smoking doesn’t make you hip. These days, when people would rather enjoy proper wellbeing and live longer years, smokers are viewed with scorn.
6. Realize that though smoking may help you get rid of stress, it will come at a high price. The perils of smoking are too dire to ignore. Would you rather have a few stress-free minutes at the price of a lot of years subtracted from your life?
7. There’s no rule that says you should smoke after eating. Smoking won’t eliminate the taste of food inside your mouth. Want to remove such? Brush your teeth instead.
8. Know that when you smoke in public, you’re committing indirect homicide. Second-hand smoke is just as dangerous as the puffs you take. When you smoke in a public venue, you similar to a messenger of death and decay.
9. Realize that smoking doesn’t help you drop weight. Cigarettes burn your lung, not your calories.
10. Remember that smoking won’t help you keep your focus at work. It’s just a matter of mentality. It’s all about you and not what you take in.
