When you decide to why quit smoking, you must do it knowing what will come. {Since this won’t be a pretty journey, and you might regret the decision after only a couple of days, you will need all the possible support you can get. Because quitting is never pretty, regardless of the drug we are talking, you will need people that can support you. Since smoking is hard to forget, make sure there are persons that can offer you the support you need.} Also, you will need to find as many pleasurable activities to fill up you time with, others than smoking. The list below is made up of a few helpful tips for people who want to give up smoking:

- Make sure you tell everyone you know that you are quitting. Support and understanding from your loved ones can prove to be the best medicine against any addiction. It’s crucial that people who surround you know why you are so nervous and tired.

- Make a long list with all the reasons that lead you to this decision. After you quit and feel the need of a cigarette, you can take a look at the list. At times, you can add there any other things you find useful.

- Throw in the garbage can all lighters and ashtrays. If you live in a house with more smokers, you will have to ask them to smoke away from you for at least a couple of weeks.

- Lots of people think that quitting will get them fat, since they will want to eat all the time. In fact, eating is just a way of replacing the smoking habit. When you want to eat or you simply want to chew on something, try eating an apple. Eating healthy and not eating fats will assure your optimal weight during the months in which you will be eating more than usual.

- Another dependency factor, coffee, might strike back at first, as you will be needing more and more in the beginning. It’s best to give up coffee as well or at least to avoid general anxiety states provoked by caffeine.

- Avoid the lack of sleep because sleepless nights will make you think too much about how good a cigarette might feel.

- You should reward you efforts with nice things bought from money not wasted on cigarettes. Any effort deserves a gift.

- Smoking once in a while when you feel you can’t restrain anymore doesn’t mean you have to start again to easy way to quit smoking. Just one cigarette does not lose you the whole war.

- Sign up for aerobics classes or hire a home instructor which can fill up your empty hours, and help you eliminate all bodily toxins accumulated over the years.
