It’s not as undoable as doomsayers say.  You can abandon smoking.  With the right goals, the correct approach and the correct mindset, you can say goodbye to your potentially dangerous habit and turn a new leaf in life, one that is fresh and nicotine-free.

What many would-be former smokers fail to realize, however, is that there are many quit smoking symptoms that are sure to hound them along the way.  The problem I observe is that many smokers who manage to quit smoking are yanked by surprise by these quit smoking symptoms.  The outcome is tragic, many of them fall into relapse, finding comfort the familiar experience of their dangerous habit.  (Tip: There are now stop smoking drugs that can relieve these symptoms.  Read to the end to find out how.)

Hence, I believe it’s best to enumerate these quit smoking symptoms so that you - as a smoker who has made a conscious decision to kick out your smoking habit - will discover how to confront them head on to guarantee that you won’t revert to something that you should bid goodbye to forever.

- You will begin to look for food, more than what is commonly the norm.  Or so you may think.  The fact is, smoking provides a kind of oral gratification.  When you cease smoking, your body will be so used to supporting something between the lips thus it will be desperate to find an alternative.  Eating, by its very nature, is the most convenient alternative.  Therefore, people who manage to quit smoking often feel the craving for something to eat - or something to nibble to be exact.  The result will be some extra weight in the first few months.

- Your work rate will diminish, at least for the first quarter or so.  This is because you’re so used to “providing a prize” for yourself with a stick of cigarette every chance you get.  When you quit, you won’t have that “reward” to look forward to.  As a result, Hence, you’ll be less driven to go through the grinds of your days.  This is easy to remedy.  Just find a new prize!

- The longing for a stick will be there forever.  Whenever you’re idle, you’ll wish to light up a cigarette.  Whenever you want to be more productive, you’ll want to take a puff or two.  Whenever you’re feeling some pressure, you’d want to slow down with some puffs.  In many situations, you will wait and wait and wait until the time comes when the temptations will stop.  Here’s the cold fact: the temptations will never cease.  It’s just something you will have to learn how to deal with.  It may be difficult, but most definitely, you’re better than such, right?
