Implicating another person will make the passing a lot simpler. A simple bet with a friend can give you the edge you need. Tell everyone you are quitting, there will be moments when you will require all their support. Don’t quit at once. Remember that you are also physically dependent, so prepare you mind also. When you have only one week until the proposed date, start smoking less. You can do this for example by only smoking half of each cigarette, or by delaying the lighting of the first cigarette with one hour every day. Decide every day how many cigarettes you will be smoking, and if you can, smoke even less. Smoke only when you really want to and avoid the moments when you light a cigarette by habit. Just before you really why quit smoking, leave somewhere without cigarettes.
That first day without cigarettes will be the hardest, and you should be very careful, and only think you will not be smoking “today”. Then throw away all cigarettes and lighters.
