To help ensure that you succeed in your next, and final, attempt to stop smoking here are a couple of things which you must actually keep in mind.  Setting yourself up to achieve success isn’t something that can happen by chance.

If you actually need to stop smoking for good, you’ll need to make some conscious decisions that has to be followed.  If you wake up each morning with the target of attempting to avoid cigarettes and no real plan on the simple way to basically avoid cigarettes, you’ll realize that you are smoking again terribly swiftly.

In the start, you may discover that you are probably afraid of giving up.  While you know that stopping smoking is the wise option for your fitness it’s a habit that has come to be a huge comfort to you.  Giving up is so frightening that you even begin to work yourself up over it, convincing yourself that you can’t really stop smoking and that you should not even attempt such a thing.

The straightforward answer is that allowing yourself to believe you may fail will end up in failure.  If you suspect that you can succeed, you will find it much easier to quit smoking for good.

The first step should be choosing a specific date that you would like to stop smoking.  This can be any date that you please, but unlike that fad diet you keep meaning to try out, this date should really come.

Once the date arrives, you must ensure that all of your acquaintances and family are behind you for encouragement.  This will help you to keep your willpower up when you feel that you’re going to completely lose control.  As a good step in the correct direction, you might even avoid buying new cigarettes if you are out, or destroy any that you presently have in your possession.

As a hint, if the cigarettes are in the cupboard in the kitchen or the sitting room but not physically on you, then yes they do still count as being in your possession.  You must remove everything smoking related from your house.  This includes matches, lighters, ashtrays, and all cigarettes.

Wash everything in your place if you can, especially bed sheets and curtains.  Anything that smells similar to smoke should be cleaned.  This may clear your home and make it smell fresh and clean.  This fantastic new smell can go a long way towards warding off cigarettes since you will not need to smoke in a clean house and destroy the fresh smell.

Create a reward system for yourself.  A good place to start would be a minuscule reward after your first twenty-four hours with no cigarettes.  Then move onto two days, then 3 days, then a week, 2 weeks, a month, two months and so on.  These small rewards will help you to remain motivated to give up smoking as the going gets tough and your willpower starts to diminish.

Should you give into the enticement, you miss out on your reward.  This could be agonizing in order to work.  If you are a massive sports fan, you could buy yourself season tickets for your favorite team.  Each time you meet a goal, you go to a game, which can inspire you to remain on track so you may use those great tickets.

Having your goals written down is another superb way to successfully stop smoking.  There are some things about writing down goals that just makes them more crucial.  If you’re just walking around with your goals and rewards in your head it is simple to change the rules as you go along.

If your goals are written down, it is a lot less complicated for someone in your family to help hold you responsible.  Additionally, this can make it seem much more reasonable to essentially quit smoking.  Talking about quitting smoking can sound truly scary, but seeing it written down on paper can be a reminder just how easy the process truly is.
