How To Quit Smoking Cigarettes Once And For All
Wednesday, June 3rd, 2009    Subscribe To Our FeedThey say that it is the first couple of weeks that are the hardest. Once you get past them, you are fine. The question is how to stop smoking cigarettes for those couple of weeks so you can kick the habit. If you can’t make it past those first couple of weeks, you just may end up getting caught in a vicious cycle.
You have to take a look at why you are not being successful. Is it your friends offering you smokes? Are you hanging out at places that you used to smoke a lot at? Are you not getting any support from your family? Initially you may not even be looking at these things, but answering yes to any of these can result in a failed attempt to quit smoking.
Your friends are meant to be there to help you out, not hinder your efforts. If they are still smoking, that’s fine, but they have to respect your decision to quit cigarettes. Be up front with them and tell them that you don’t want to deal with the peer pressure of the constant offering of cigarettes. In fact, if you ask them for some, they need to tell you no.
You need to take a good look at where you are spending your free time. If you find that you are successful until you go out on Friday nights, maybe it is time to chill for a couple of weeks until you get over the hump. You are just setting yourself up for failure by entering into that environment.
Finally, get your family behind you. Let everyone know the decision that you have made and that you are going to need their support. This may involve tolerating some tantrums from you or you listening to some harsh criticism, but in the end you will be happy that they stood their ground.
