And nobody’s kidding anyone when they keep telling each other that they like the smell and taste of cigs. Of course, the habit has made them ignore the smell and taste which assists enslave them to the addiction. Some think that they could simply stop smoking forever if they wanted to and though they have that unproven knowledge, they never do anything about it but procrastinate. Nonetheless, Smokers know that sooner or later, they have to kick the their habit.
Here is one thing you can do. Try to stop smoking today. After a few minutes, you will feel the addiction finding you . Gauge yourself on how many cravings you can get past with without rushing to the nearest pack and lighting a smoke. Consider it a challenge . There will be competitors, people also wanting to quit, and you have to best them. Treat it as a work out session for your will. Consider it as defeating one of your great enemies.
A good way to carry yourself from the creeping addiction is to imagine two doors that represents two choices. Act as if it is giving you the chance to choose either ’Yes, right now’, or No, not right now.’ You will invariably click on the Yes option a good number of times at the beginning. But pretty soon, as you develop your ‘will mass’ and acquire more strength (just like a normal workout session!), you will have the power to pick No and not suffer for it. Afterwards, just carry on picking No.
Some lapses may occur at times, but it is to be expected. The chief element is that you have made an attempt. It will take time, but testing your limits is very effective because you are trying to pit resistance on your will, and you know what take about to something when you endlessly work on it. It gets strengthened to the point that you can deflect almost all cravings. There will come a time when a third option will show itself, perhaps after only a month, depending on the effort you put into it – ‘No, and please don’t ask again.’
